Foundations
Hands-on experiences are integrated as much as possible at Prairie Hills, and interdisciplinary connections are made across subjects. Wonders Reading, Every Child a Writer, Eureka Math, Science Building Blocks and Social Studies Weekly are complemented with specials, including art, music, PE and Spanish.
Charting a Path
Walk to Intervention is special to Prairie Hills. Targeted groups of students (typically five to seven children) meet five days a week for 45 minutes to plan their next learning steps. Every student participates. Groups are fluid, with children moving from group to group depending on their needs and progress.
Emotional Intelligence
A color-coded Mood Meter helps Prairie Hills students communicate feelings and improve their vocabulary. Children learn to recognize emotions in themselves and others, understanding the causes and consequences of those feelings. Students use a personalized blueprint to build social and self-awareness.
Collaboration Across Campus
Significant Support Needs instruction spans across Prairie Hills classrooms. Students in all programs are involved in everything, without limits, increasing social skills and building new relationships. Children flourish as they discover what they can offer their community and what others have to offer as well.
