Consistent attendance supports the academic and social-emotional well-being of all students. Being present each day helps students build strong relationships and make the most of learning opportunities.
If your child will be absent, please call the office before 8:15 a.m. at 719-234-5100. If no call is received, a Prairie Hills staff member will contact you to check on your child.
Absence Reasons
Students should only be absent for:
- Illness
- Unusual family difficulties
- Emergencies
Tardies
If your child arrives after 8:15 a.m., a parent must sign them in at the office. The student will receive a tardy pass and be admitted to class.
Early Checkout
If your child must leave school early, a parent or guardian should sign them out at the front office. Identification will be requested upon arrival. The student will be called from class once the checkout process is complete.
Make-Up Work
Students will receive make-up work upon returning to school. They have one day for every day absent to complete the assignments.
Absence Reporting
Student attendance and tardies are monitored daily and quarterly. These records are reported on the student report card.
