At Prairie Hills, our commitment is to Grow and Achieve Together. We recognize that learning looks different for each child, and not all students and families have the same needs. At Prairie Hills Elementary School, we value every individual academic journey. Together with families, we nurture academic, social and emotional growth in each student.

Jackie Hansen, Principal

"This is my first year at Prairie Hills!  I am joining you all after serving the Woodmen-Roberts Community for the past three years and have worked in the district since 2009. My husband and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary in June. Colorado Springs became home to us when he was in the Army. He served as a Bradley mechanic and was honorably discharged after 8 years of service. We are originally from the Chicago area, so we are Chicago White Sox Fans, Black Hawk Fans, and Bears fans, although CO Springs will remain our home for good.  We have three kiddos. Our daughter, KayLea, will attend Rampart High School in the fall while our younger daughter, Savannah, will be a 7th grader at Mountain Ridge Middle School. William is our youngest and will be attending 4yo preschool in the fall. They keep us busy outside of school with band, sports, drama, and adventures.

I am excited to be part of the Coyote Pack and look forward to getting to know you all!"

Susan Yoon, Assistant Principal

"Welcome back, Coyotes! My name is Susan Yoon, and I am excited to be back at Prairie Hills this year as the Assistant Principal. I am a Colorado native- born and raised here in Colorado Springs. I love to read, listen to music, watch TV and movies, exercise, be outside in the sunshine, and be with family and friends. I attended college at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and English. I then taught 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades in District 49 before becoming a Teaching and Learning Coach in District 11. From there I attended received my Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership, and I have been an Assistant Principal for the past 7 years, 3 of which are now here at Prairie Hills, my favorite place to be! Prairie Hills is a special place, and I truly feel lucky to be a leader and part of this unique and talented team. I have three amazing kids- Brenna (8), Ava (6), and Everett (3) who keep me very busy! They love gymnastics, music, movies, and playing outside. I love being a mom, and it drives me to make the school experience for all kids the best it can be. We also have a 3 year old dog named Coco who loves to play with the kids!"

"I look forward to partnering with families this school year as we work as a team to grow our Coyotes socially, emotionally, and academically. It is my passion to make sure that I know students, their families, and their stories so that all students know they belong here and are safe and welcome every day. Please reach out with any questions, feedback, or just to say hello at susan.yoon@asd20.org or 719-234-5100."
