Meet the Principal
Dr. Becky Harris
My family is my love. I am married to Tom Harris who is a successful elementary PE teacher and wonderful father. We have two amazing little boys running around our house. Declan is four – He loves soccer and superheroes. He likes to be called The Flash. Porter is two – He is daring and precocious. He is the singer and dancer of the family. Little Bit is our 12-year-old Yorkie, and Daisy is our three-year-old Golden Retriever-Aussie mix. We love to play and explore Colorado and cherish the time we spend together.
Background and Education
I was born in Denver and grew up in Westminster. I attended Jefferson County Schools most of my K-12 education. I graduated high school from Community Christian High School, a small K-12 school, as part of a graduating class of 11 students. As the oldest of four siblings, I attended school with my younger brother and sisters to help my mom after my father passed.
I attended college at Colorado State University-Pueblo where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and Education, and I started my teaching career as a high school English teacher in Widefield School District 3. While teaching, I attended Colorado College and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching. I was hired as the Student Achievement Support Specialist and started my journey to earn my Doctorate of Education in K-12 Education Leadership which I achieved in 2014. I moved from the District office back to a school as the Assistant Principal of Talbott Elementary for two years and then spent the last five years as the Principal of Venetucci Elementary.
Several years ago I visited Prairie Hills to observe the implementation of AVID Elementary. It was at that visit I first felt a connection with the school community. I am honored to now be the Principal of Prairie Hills Elementary and looking forward to an exciting school year!
