Visiting/Volunteering
We strongly encourage parents and community members to visit or to volunteer at Prairie Hills Elementary. All visitors and volunteers MUST sign in at the office and will receive a visitor’s or volunteer’s badge. Younger children should not visit classrooms with their parents, but may certainly join their brother or sister during lunch, when accompanied by an adult.
Volunteer Background Check
The safety of your child and every other child who attends a District Twenty school is our number one priority. For this reason, the district will conduct background checks on all volunteers who work with children on a regular basis. Parent Volunteer Forms and Volunteer Guidelines are available in the office. There is a $6.95 cost that goes with the parent volunteer form. If you have completed a Volunteer Form in a previous year, you do not need to do it again. Please know your dedication to helping students learn through volunteering in the classroom is very much appreciated.
School/Parent Communication
Our newsletter is published monthly. A monthly calendar is also sent home a week prior to the new month detailing school activities. 20 Alert will be sent to inform parents of situations, school closures, or school information via email/text. Students will bring home a Friday Folder with school flyers or corrected work. Please return your child’s Friday Folder every Monday.
Teacher email addresses are listed on the school web site. This is the most efficient means of communication with your child’s teacher. You may also wish to call your teacher at 234-5100 and leave a message. Teachers will respond to parent communication usually within 24 hours.
